Boss Problem Perspective
It all begins with an idea.
SCENARIO: The boss asks us to do a task outside our job description. She is not offering any incentives and has only given us 48 hours to complete it.
INITIAL PERSPECTIVE: The boss does not appreciate all that we already do and is steadily adding more work. She does not give us the time she gives the other team members. The least she could do is give something for this extra work. Feeling so stressed and feel we should not have to do this.
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE: The boss knows she cannot rely on anyone else on the team to get this done. I must let her know some other tasks will be done a little later because of this new project. Wow, these new skills from doing this project will look great on the resume.
Boyfriend’s Ex Problem Perspective
It all begins with an idea.
SCENARIO: The man you have been in love with for the past 24 years has another ex that he has a deep history with. She is still part of his life as a friend but everyone knows she is still in love with him too. And he still loves her.
INITIAL PERSPECTIVE: You hate everything about her and wishes he would remove her from his life altogether. On some level, you feel threatened and jealous of her and worry she can give him something you can’t.
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE: Why hate her, she just did what you did, fell in love with an amazing man. Either you trust the man you love or you don’t. If he is true and committed to you, then he will not let anyone come between you, including her. If you are going to be jealous of her, then you can’t only covet what she has with him but you must covet everything about her life. Do you really want all aspects of her life? Probably not, so release your jealousy. Lastly, know and be confident in what you give him and bring to the relationship, No other woman can do what you do, including her.
